Client Officer at Sörbyn Prison
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transport.
The Umeå area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the remand center Umeå. We are undergoing extensive capacity increases, and there is a lot happening in the area in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. At Sörbyn prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry, horticulture, textiles, etc. Sörbyn is an agricultural prison with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At Umeå prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchen, learning centers, and treatment programs. The prison and remand center Umeå are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and Sörbyn is easiest reached by car. Staff parking is available at all units.
